The Autumn Garden Society (led by former Harvardwood NYC Chapter Head Spence Porter) presents our TENTH Event on Monday, April 20:
Assistant Designer Mitchell Bloom researches the periods of shows, presenting the Costume Designers with portfolios of looks appropriate to the characters. His 27 Broadway shows include Grand Hotel, Lost in Yonkers, Fosse, The Will Rogers Follies, Gypsy, and Ragtime, working with Designers Santo Loquato, Ann Roth, Willa Kim, Bob Crowley, and more. Others he's worked with include Tommy Tune, Neil Simon, Helen Mirren, Ian McKellen, Ann Reinking, Gwen Verdon, Maggie Smith, Julie Harris, Twyla Tharp, Paul Taylor, and Woody Allen. Bloom will talk about the research behind the costumes--and what happened after the research, including backstage stories involving performers, designers, and directors. Bloom is currently Assistant Staff Costume Designer at the Metropolitan Opera.
The talk will be followed by a WINE AND CHEESE RECEPTION.
