Suggests: The Voices that Remain

When history remembers a moment, whose voices does it carry forward?

Five years after August 2021, Afghan women and girls continue to experience profound changes to their access to education, employment, and public life. Yet their stories are not defined only by what has been taken away.

The Voices That Rise is a gathering created around the memories, creativity, and perspectives of Afghan girls themselves.

Through personal reflections, poetry, storytelling, cultural presentations, short performances, and conversation, students will explore Afghanistan’s rich history, the contributions women have made across generations, and the identities and dreams they continue to carry.

This is not simply a discussion about Afghanistan.

It is a living archive, a space where young women tell their own stories, in their own words.
