Moderated conversation with Dr. Quiñones-Hinojosa following a screening of the Netflix: The Surgeon’s Cut episode in which he is featured.

Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa, M.D. serves as chair of the Department of Neurologic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Florida, where he is the William J. and Charles H. Mayo Professor. In addition to his expertise in the surgical treatment of brain cancer, Dr. Quiñones-Hinojosa leads the Brain Tumor Stem Cell Laboratory, which studies brain tumors from a surgical, imaging, clinical, and basic science perspective. Dr. Quiñones-Hinojosa earned his M.D. at Harvard Medical School, where he graduated cum laude.

His autobiography - “Becoming Dr. Q,” about his journey from migrant farm worker to neurosurgeon - is currently under development for a movie adaptation by Walt Disney Co., Annapurna Pictures and Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment. Dr. Quiñones-Hinojosa was featured in the second episode of The Surgeon’s Cut, a four-part docuseries produced by BBC Studios for Netflix that won a 2021 BAFTA in the Specialist Factual category and a 2021 Emmy for Outstanding Science and Technology Documentary. Dr. Quiñones-Hinojosa is co-founder and serves as president of Mission: BRAIN, Bridging Resources and Advancing International Neurosurgery, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit foundation.
