The California Employment Development Department (EDD) will present a FREE live webinar about Paid Family Leave and Disability benefits for Harvardwood members and friends. REGISTRATION REQUIRED. This Webinar will use Adobe Connect. You will receive an email invitation shortly before the event.
Have you or a family member been quarantined due to a suspected or diagnosed case of COVID-19? This webinar will cover Disability and Paid Family Leave for workers. These programs provide partial wage replacement ranging from $50 to $1,300 per week* funded through the CA State Disability Insurance (SDI) payroll deduction.
Paid Family Leave pays benefits if you need time off work to care for a seriously ill family member OR to bond with a new child.
Disability Insurance provides partial wage replacement benefits for your own illness, injury, pregnancy or disability. This includes: elective surgery, alcoholism and drug addiction treatment and recovery, and pregnancy, childbirth or other related post-partum conditions.
Who is Eligible?
• people with a suspected or diagnosed case of COVID-19 (you do not need to be tested to qualify, your doctor can certify a suspected case through a video appointment)
• people caring for a family member with a suspected or diagnosed case of COVID-19
Other non-COVID-19 circumstances that may qualify you for these programs:
• pregnancy / childbirth
• a new child joining your family
• caring for an ill or aging family member (not infected with COVID-19)
• non-work-related illness or injury
This seminar will cover: who is eligible, how to apply, how much leave is offered, and approximately how much money an employee can receive during leave.
IMPORTANT: These programs are funded through the CA State Disability Insurance (SDI) payroll deduction, therefore only workers who have W2 income (including s corp/loan-out owners) will be eligible.

By RSVPing below, you confirm your understanding that these programs are only open to workers with W2 income. This includes most artists with S Corps (loan-outs).
