Type of Position: Internship
Minimum Education Level: completed or currently completing Bachelor's
Minimum Years of Experience: 1
Job Description:
What we're looking for
A creative, proactive team player who'll help us grow and engage the userbase for our first music app, Cadenza. You’ll be working with Sonation’s marketing director on many different initiatives to reach musicians.
About Sonation
We’re a music technology company spun out of the Harvard innovation lab and based at New England Conservatory in Boston. Our mission is to help people become better musicians by enabling greater self-expression through technology. Our first app, Cadenza, gives musicians the rare opportunity to practice with a full, responsive orchestra that fits their pace in real time.
We're a team of musicians covering about a dozen instruments among all of us, but we all come from different backgrounds -- Harvard MBA, Kurzweil Music Systems cofounder, music producer and composer, guitar teacher/iOS engineer, emotional brand marketer. We're passionate about bringing music learning and practice into the 21st century with technology that naturally integrates into your life.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Sonation’s marketing director on outreach campaigns to music students and teachers, e.g.:
- Run YouTube and Facebook contests
- Create email and direct mail campaigns
- Organize live events and concerts
- Manage and grow the Cadenza social media accounts (FB, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, etc.): schedule posts, respond to readers, reach out to influencers.
- Write compelling original posts and identify third party content that embodies the Cadenza brand and voice.
- Write blog posts for the Cadenza website on topics musicians and students care about.
Qualifications:
- You understand music and what musicians care about. Ideally you play an instrument in Cadenza (violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, French horn)
- You’re fun, social and a go-getter. We’re a startup so there’s no room for hand-holding. You proactively think about what more you can do to make the whole team better.
- You’re a natural communicator. You’re comfortable pitching Cadenza to strangers, and you can write compelling content that people enjoy reading.
- You have experience managing and growing social media for a brand, student organization, anything bigger than yourself.
- It’s a plus if:
- You’re good at photography and/or videography.
- You have graphic design skills (web, posters, etc.).
