Students, the Harvardwood 101 deadline is Oct. 17th!

Current students, you've got until October 17, 2016 to apply to the Harvardwood 101 J-termship program!

The Harvardwood 101 career exploration program brings two dozen current undergraduates to Los Angeles during the January term and provides a series of career-related activities in order to demystify Hollywood and educate them about careers in the entertainment industry.  The program began in 2003 and is cosponsored by Harvard University's Office for the Arts and the Office of Career Services.

The 2017 Harvardwood 101 program will run from Monday, Jan. 2nd to Sunday, Jan. 22, 2016.

  • The MANDATORY bootcamp week will run from Jan. 2-6th.
  • The OPTIONAL J-termship program will run from Jan. 9-22nd, or a portion thereof.

Do community service? Apply for a $500 unrestricted Harvardwood Heroes grant!

Apply this fall to become a 2016 Harvardwood Heroes and receive a $500 unrestricted grant! The deadline to submit your grant proposal is Oct. 15, 2016.

Harvardwood awards $500 grants* to applicants who have demonstrated a distinguished level of service to their organizations of choice. Every year, grant winners will be determined by the strength of their proposal. They will receive the first $250 upon announcement of the winners and the balance of the grant upon submission of a final essay six months later. 

You do not need to be a Harvardwood member to receive a Harvardwood Heroes grant (applicants must be current students, alums, staff, or faculty), although Harvardwood members and/or applicants whose service project is arts-related will receive priority consideration.

Seeking a mentor in your field in the arts, media, or entertainment? Apply by October 7th for your opportunity to be matched with a Harvardwood mentor this year.

The Harvardwood Mentorship Program fosters meaningful professional relationships by matching Harvard graduates with more established alums in their fields of interest for a period of eight months of one-on-one career mentoring.

NYC Living Rooms and Event Spaces Needed

Harvardwood has the same issue that most New Yorkers have... SPACE!

The biggest single challenge we have in putting together our NYC events is coming up with the places to have them. You may have noticed that we had only one big party last year instead of our usual four—and Harvardwood members NEED parties!

So if you have a living room just modestly larger than average (if you've been to our parties you'll have a reasonably good idea of what I mean) and are willing to host one of our parties, that would be fabulous! But parties aren't our only events—we also need spaces for interviews, talks, concerts, all the things we love doing.

Join the Boston Screenwriting Group this year

The Fall 2016 HWP-Features program in Boston will begin in late September! Applications will be accepted Sept. 1-15, 2016, and new participants will be asked to submit a short writing sample, a bio or resume, and a paragraph stating what you'd like to work on with the group this year.

Fall 2016 TV Modules - Apply by Sept. 1st!

Now through September 1st, we're accepting applications to the HWP — TV Modules in Los Angeles. Please check back for updates about the NY program.

The Harvardwood Writers Program — TV Modules use peer review, guest speakers and workshops to foster a motivating and supportive environment for each participant’s writing. The HWP — TV program is currently available in Los Angeles and runs in the fall and spring semesters yearly. Participants of the HWP — TV Modules may be considered for the annual Harvardwood Most Staffable TV Writers List.

Taking place in Los Angeles, we anticipate having modules for Original Drama Pilot, Original Comedy Pilot, and Original Pilot Rewrites. The program fee for each module is $100.

We are seeking mentors and advisors for the Harvardwood Mentorship Program and the Career Advisors Program. Both programs aim to foster meaningful professional relationships between Full Members of Harvardwood and established alums in their fields of interest. Our volunteer mentors and advisors are what enable these Harvardwood programs to continue to thrive and support the next generation of Harvard arts, media, and entertainment professionals.

We are looking for mentors and advisors in a wide array of arts-related professional fields for 2016-17, and we hope you'll join us!

FWSP-eligible undergraduate needed to assist with Harvardwood!

Harvardwood is currently looking for an undergraduate student who is eligible for the Federal Work Study Program to assist with weekly administrative duties and other projects as needed. All work can be done online, and the hours (6-10 per week) are very flexible.

This is a great way to learn more about Harvardwood, the programming we offer across our nationwide chapters, and other opportunities that undergraduates and alumni can enjoy. It's a particularly great position for someone interested in exploring the arts, media, and entertainment after graduation!
