Posted on behalf of Nancy McCullough, HLS '92:
To Our Harvard Southern California Community:
I am excited to invite you to attend a very special "Harriet" screening on Tuesday, December 17, followed by a talkback panel featuring producer Debra Martin Chase (HLS '81), whose film career has been stellar and ground-breaking for many years.
Event organizer Black Design Collective is a nonprofit that raises scholarships for black fashion & costume designers. It is founded by clients of mine, who are amazing, talented fashion designers working tirelessly to build industry opportunities for future designers.
Please join us Tuesday Dec. 17 at 6 pm at the Regal LA Live in DTLA for this pre-holiday celebration of a film profiling Underground Railway "conductor" Harriet Tubman, an iconic figure in Black American history. Link is below:
In addition to Debra, the follow-up panel will feature actress Vanessa Bell Calloway, who plays Harriet’s mother, and costume designer Paul Tazewell, who won a Tony Award for ‘Hamilton’ and an Emmy Award for ‘The Wiz Live!’, providing a behind-the-scenes retrospective on making this epic film.
Hope to see as much of our community as possible for this exciting event -- cost is only $25, benefitting Black Design Collective's scholarship fund. Student rate is $15, so please spread the word to any interested students. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you, and a happy holiday season to everyone!
Best regards, Nancy L. McCullough, Esq.,
