Anthony Cistaro is currently shooting a guest role for the new season of the CBS show NUMB3RS. Anthony also just completed a role in the independent feature BARE KNUCKLES (in which Anthony Hopkins played a surprise cameo).

Effie-Michelle Metallidis is working on "Garp," a short movie project that she has co-written and co-produced with a British commercial film director. The movie is currently being filmed on the Western coast of Turkey, near the Dardanelles. The story is about a 40-something Greek man Yanis, and an Iraqi refugee, Soraya, who washes up on his vacation getaway spot called Garp, which means "West" in Arabic and Ottoman Turkish. Through these characters, we explore the dilemma of refuge, escape, and paradise from two fundamentally different angles. The backdrop of Turkey sets a unique tone to the film, as it currently functions as one of the hottest escape zones for Middle Eastern and Central Asian people fleeing to the West. Our story is based in part on the refugees that actually do steal boats and drive them across to Lesbos, which is a stone's throw away from this real-life location of Garp. We hope to finish the edits in time for the festival circuit, and look forward to updating the Harvard community once it's all done!

With the help of alums Garrett Law '00 and A.J. Lewis '99, independent broadcaster KHIZ-TV brought home its first-ever Emmy, at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' 59th Annual Los Angeles-area awards, beating a strong field of major-network-affiliated competitors in the Arts and Culture/History category.

KHIZ-TV's winning entry: "Behind the Lyrics," a half-hour, music-driven documentary. It was the first Emmy for each of the members of the production team behind the show, which included: director/producer A.J. Lewis '99, executive producers Garrett Law '00 and Peter White, and co-producer Richard Janes. Led by director/producer Lewis, KHIZ's team shot the documentary on location in and around Los Angeles. Accepting the award, Law, the General Manager of KHIZ, remarked that, like the story of the artist in "Behind the Lyrics" – "in Los Angeles success does not come easy…the story of someone struggling to make it is an important one and one we here can all identify with."

Eve Sicular '83 has two NYC-based bands that have been up to plenty of trouble lately. Metropolitan Klezmer released "TRAVELING SHOW," the band's fourth CD on Rhythm Media Records (and their first full-length concert disc). This latest internationally-acclaimed release was produced Eve herself, who leads the band from behind her drumset as well as creating many of the band's adventurous arrangements with her versatile bandmates. Meanwhile, this June, Eve led her sister group Isle of Klezbos -- the powerhouse, fun-loving all-women's sextet -- all the way to Vienna for their second European festival trip, this show a full house at Porgy & Bess nightclub, as excerpted on TV's "Hello Austria." Isle of Klezbos will be appearing this fall at The National Yiddish Book Center in Amherst MA (Sept 30th); at Comix nightclub in NYC, a double bill with The Lascivious Biddies all-female cocktail pop quartet (Nov 13th); and... on October 25th at The Harvard Club in Manhattan!

We are looking for an editor for a documentary called FIGURES OF SPEECH, a feature following six ventriloquists over the course of a year. We recently shot footage at the 2007 national ventriloquist convention and the subject matter is narrative, character-driven, highly comedic and at times poignant. Looking for a sense of humor in the cuts. The footage is stored on a hard drive in HD 720, 24P. We also will be creating a trailer to be completed asap. Experienced editors preferred - rates commensurate. Mark is currently a supervising producer on LAW & ORDER: SVU. Lindsay is a development executive at Fremantle (producers of AMERICAN IDOL). They expect FIGURES OF SPEECH to be released theatrically in 2008.... To view full posting, please visit:
