Story Synopsis: Set against the backdrop of 1933 Berlin, An Escape follows Miriam Halpern, a young Jewish girl whose world is turned upside down by the rising tide of anti-Semitism and the brutal encroachment of Nazi power. After losing her father and facing the harrowing realities of the time, Miriam finds solace and strength in painting, a passion passed down by her mother, Ina, a couturier who instills in her the belief that beauty can emerge from tragedy. As the situation worsens, Miriam is sent away for safety, separated from her family, and left to navigate the world alone. Through the lens of her artwork, Miriam copes with the trauma of displacement, loss, and fear, finding resilience in the very act of creation. Her paintings, vivid and emotional, serve as a testament to her enduring spirit, even as she holds on to the hope of one day being reunited with her family.
