Are you planning to embark on a new business venture? Do you have an idea for a really great name for a product or service? Join CLA and attorney Jesse Saivar for a discussion of the essential legal and business concerns that creative artists need to consider when establishing and protecting their brands. This workshop will provide an overview of trademarks--what they are, what they mean, and ways they can help you create a strong brand identity. The program will include an introduction to trademark selection and registration, including practical tips for filing a trademark application; an overview of the spectrum of distinctiveness; and a discussion of methods to enforce trademark rights.

Jesse Saivar, Esq. is the chair of the Intellectual Property Department of Greenberg Glusker and specializes in intellectual property protection, enforcement, compliance and deal-making in several intellectual property-intensive industries, including entertainment, video games, fashion, beauty care and emerging technology.

These workshops are made possible, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and The City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs.  Additional support provided by the California Arts Council.
