We are happy to announce that a new module for the HARVARDWOOD WRITERS’ PROGRAM will begin in September, focused on feature screenwriting. The group will meet on alternate Tuesday evenings in Los Angeles, and the idea will be for each member to set their own goals – turning a treatment into a draft, turning a draft into a polished script, etc. Writers who meet all program requirements will be eligible to post their work to the Harvardwood script menu and to submit their work for inclusion in our second annual FEATURE SCREENWRITING SHOWCASE, in cooperation with the Harvard Actors’ Program.
Each week, several writers’ work will be chosen and read in advance, to be discussed at the meeting. Depending on the preferences of the group, there may be a guest speaker or two, but the main focus of the group will be the writing itself. The life of a writer can be frustratingly solitary, and thoughtful feedback hard to find; our goal is to build a supportive and engaged community to help us move our work ahead.
Only Full Members who are current on their dues are eligible to participate. We will have a mandatory introductory meeting on the evening of SEPTEMBER 7 to set goals and discuss group format. Regular meetings will begin thereafter. Members will be charged a nominal fee ($75), mainly as a budget for refreshments, etc. If you are interested, or have any questions, please contact: hwpfeatures@harvardwood.org.
